broadcasting to both valleys at once
Broadcasting: 25/03/11 - 26/03/11
On Friday 25th March we’ll be broadcasting for the first time from our new home in Meltham, and we are so excited! We’ll be on air from 1.00pm to 9.00pm and we’re bursting at the seams with goodies for you. There will be news, views, music and laughs from around The Valleys and an exclusive studio session from Bad Pollyanna, recorded especially for Two Valleys Radio.
And on Saturday 26th, we’ll be in the Caravan of Love up at Honley High School, as all the schools in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s “King Lear” project come together for their first performance. Ahh, the smell of the greasepaint….
Here’s a full Schedule for Friday 25th and Saturday 26th March:
1pm – 2pm Art to Art
Last month, Andy Burton interviewed Marsden-based sculptor Rachel Ellis. Now Rachel interviews glass artist, Louise Watson about her work and her life as an artist in the Valleys.
2pm – 3pm School’s In
Over the past year we have worked with students from schools across the Two Valleys and today we have a group of writers from Colne Valley Specialist Arts College in the studio to showcase some of their creative writing.
Then, young journalists from Honley High School will be interviewing Sandy Marshall, reporter with the Holme Valley Review, and maybe getting a few tips…
3-4pm Two Valleys: Many Views
Last year we caught up with the Laura Crane Trust (as it was then) and found out about all the great work they do, the charity has recently changed its name to the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust and is working with two students from Huddersfield University interviewing young cancer patients. We’ll also get a preview of the charity single, recorded with the unlikely combination of Colne Valley Ladies Circle and the Huddersfield Giants!
Brian Cross will join us in the studio to talk about the Connecting Communities conference which is being run by Voluntary Action Kirklees, and finally, Matt and Millie are the newest members of the Two Valleys Radio team…but they are from Leeds! We’ll find out what happened when they went out exploring the Valleys for the first time.
4-5pm School’s Out
Our regular School’s Out team is back, bringing you another installment of Caretakers Corner and news of a rumoured Skatepark for Meltham. George talks to Mr Wheatcroft at Honley High about the Hour of Power and we’re sure that you’ll be over the moon to hear about the return of the A-Z quiz!
5-6 pm Your Neck of the Woods
Cafe 100 celebrated its 10th birthday with a “Young and Old” week of events, and invited us along. We will have some of the project leaders and the young people who use the cafe in the studio to talk about how it all went. Meltham resident Nigel Priestley recently won Solicitor of the Year award at the Law Society Excellence Awards, we’ll be talking to him about his work and about all the other community roles he has. And on the subject of community, we are very grateful to the Crossroads project in Meltham for helping us to equip our new studios and we’ll be finding out about all the great work they do
6-6.30 The Universe Show
Another favourite returns, this time exploring deep space and the possibility of alien life forms. We’ll be interviewing Dave Sadler of the Unknown Phenomena Investigation Association, and there may be a small dramatic offering from the team, we hear!
6.30 – 7.30 Wild about Festivals
Our regular round up of the very many festivals and events on offer in the Valleys. Tonight we catch up with Holmfirth Festival of Folk, Marsden’s Cuckoo Day and the Honley Show. We will also be reporting back from the highlight of our Moonraking experience; the lantern parade, and talking to Gill Bond about how it all went, now the dust has settled.
7.30 – 8 Enigma
The heaviest show around. Tonight’s programme features the Big Four; Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica. Totally awesome, dude!
8 – 9pm Music Matters
Bad Pollyanna are in the studio! With an exclusive session and interview. They describe themselves as “Industrial theatrical alternative pop rock”. We’re looking forward to finding out more!
Leave us your email address and we’ll remember you next time you visit.
