——————————
Two Valleys Radio broadcasting live from the top of the world at Hade Edge Brass Band Rooms over the weekend of 25/26th March 2010. The schedule went something like this:
Starting off on Friday at 5pm we’ll focus on Hade Edge and the Brass Band Rooms themselves. The training and youth bands will be rehearsing in the building so there’ll be some live music from them. Also interviews with Simon Wood – Hade Edge conductor and musical genius; Hade Edge AFC; Scholes Cricket Club; The Founder of Longleys Farm, Edgar Dickinson; Hade Edge Residents Committee and The Garlic Family. We’ll be asking the question ‘What’s it Like Round Here’ as well as finding out which flavour of Longley’s yoghurt is the best! Lots of local music and a spot of interactive scrabble in there too.
Saturday’s theme is ‘Sense of Place’. We’ll be looking at the whole of the Holme Valley and even beyond – starting at 3.15pm with The Universe Show. As we move through the afternoon, Slaithwaite Youth Band, Honley Male Voice Choir, and Hade Edge Community Choir are performing live in the studio. We’ll be chatting to Cafe 100 and Slaithwaite Philharmonic, and asking Holmfirth Writers Group what it means to live in this area. It’s back to local live music in the evening with Roger Davies live in the studio followed by ‘The Me’ who will be launching their new EP.
On Sunday we’ll be sharing the broadcast with out sister station in East Leeds, ELFM. We kick off the broadcast in the Valleys at 1pm with the rock and metal show, Enigma. ELFM will take over mid-afternoon with Everyone Loves Folk Music and Junior Disco Dungeon. Two Valleys Radio is back at 3.30pm with live music from the Bar 1.22 boys and an introduction to the Song Writers Circle. Then we head back to ELFM for High Fidelity and Disco Dungeon. Two Valleys Radio will be rounding of the broadcast this weekend with a live Brass Band Concert from Hade Edge Jazz and Senior Bands.
Bring out the brass….Here we go….
