broadcasting to both valleys at once
What frequency are you on?
We’re not! We only broadcast on the internet… The only option we would have for an FM licence would be to apply for one every 6 months – and it would be very tough to try and cover all areas of the Two Valleys (too many hills!). There’s lots of things we really enjoy about broadcasting on the web. The website; the fact that everything we do is available for listen again; and we can move around and broadcast from any of the villages in the Two Valleys – we’re not tied to having one studio and a big transmitter…
When do you broadcast?
We broadcast when there is something to say! At the moment we set up broadcasts around particular events in the Two Valleys. But as we are setting up our own studios and we have more volunteers, we are looking at doing regular broadcasts eg first Monday of the month. But that won’t stop us getting out and about as well…
Who runs Two Valleys Radio?
Two answers really. Heads Together Productions is the community arts organisation who have set up Two Valleys. But it’s the volunteers who turn up and make it happen – have a look at ‘The story so far’. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer – just get in touch and come along to one of our Monday volunteers’ meetings. You don’t need any particular skills or experience – just a bunch of enthusiasm.
Where do you broadcast from?
Well we have a base now – at the Carlile Institute in Meltham – which is great. But we don’t just broadcast from there. In our first year we set up studios and took our Outside Broadcast unit (the glorious Caravan of Love) to 12 different villages in the Two Valleys. If you would like us to come and broadcast from your street, farm, village or school – then just get in touch…
