3rd March 2014
On tonight’s show we have everything from visiting the Houses of Parliament to banana smiles to a whole host of empowering female musical talent!
Last week you may have noticed that dedicated volunteers Jenny and Ben weren’t on the programme, and that’s because they were off visiting this glorious place…
Well this week they’re back and we are ready to find out what they were doing snooping around the Houses of Parliament and probing them for any juicy information they may have uncovered.
Did you know it’s Fairtrade Fortnight? Yes, that’s right, Fairtrade Fortnight commenced last week on 24th February and carries on through to 9th March. Helen Robinson and Sophie Bebb of Fairandfunky have been going banana crazy, working their fair-trade socks off to bring the biggest fair-trade fortnight yet to the Holme Valley. We thought we would catch up with them to see how they’ve been getting on and what they’ve got left in store for us. And yes we will be providing them with a particular potassium filled fruit snack.
It’s a busy week this week, as not only are we into our second week of Fairtrade Fortnight, we also have International Women’s Day this Friday 7th March. To mark this occasion talented musician and women’s rights champion Emily Druce is putting on her fantastic Sound Women gig for the second year running at Bar 1:22 in Huddersfield. But this celebration isn’t confined to just one day, but a series of events across the week.
